Artist Bio

Mr. Stuart Cheng (Cheng Shiyuan)

Also known by the art name Jingguan Sanren, is a Chinese artist, member of the Shanghai Society of Aesthetics, and Vice Chairman of the Overseas Arts Committee of the Singapore Cultural & Arts Association.

A graduate of the first Master of Fine Arts program in Stage Design at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, Cheng began his career in film art direction and currently teaches at a university in Shanghai. Alongside his academic work, he is devoted to painting, calligraphy, and East Asian art studies.

His calligraphy draws inspiration from Wei steles and early Chinese stone inscriptions, while his figure paintings blend the expressive spirit of Jin and Tang dynasty murals with the artistic legacy of the Shanghai School. His works are noted for their refined brushwork, classical elegance, and strong focus on figurative subjects.
